An Almost Normal Companion

[Designed to be loved]

Woman with blank eyes inspired by the movie Companion

Hasn’t our love-hate relationship with AI been a hot topic for a long time now? A ton of movies about humans and AI robots have already been made. But this one actually made me feel something. Curiosity, wonder, disgust, and anger, sometimes all at once.

What kept amazing me was how delicately the actors balanced between being human and robot. A world where we can’t even tell the difference kind of freaks me out.

The cast was really impressive, especially Sophie Thatcher as Iris. I also recognized Jack Quaid from Scream, my favorite slasher franchise. I immediately knew he was up to no good. He’s really good at playing villains.

What stayed with me the most was the thought of how we treat AI. Even if they aren’t human, the way we treat them, even if it’s just yelling at ChatGPT, probably says something about us. And honestly, that really creeps me out.
